May 17, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Please join us OUA and the Center for Healthy Minds at this virtual session focused on how stress can be an obstacle to well-being and how we can respond effectively to it.

Who? John Dunne (Faculty at the Center for Healthy Minds, Distinguished Chair in Contemplative Humanities, Professor of Asian Languages & Cultures)

What? This talk will draw on some content from The Art and Science of Human Flourishing undergraduate course, specifically on how stress can be an obstacle to well-being and how we can respond effectively to it. We will learn about different forms of stress and how it effects the mind and body, and we will also explore some simple aspects of mindfulness that can help us manage our stress. This talk will also explore the role that emotions and habits play in stress, burnout, and stress-relief.

The session will conclude with an overview of the Healthy Minds Program app, developed by the Center for Healthy Minds and Healthy Minds Innovation, for enhancing well-being. The Healthy Minds Program app translates pioneering neuroscience, contemplative traditions, and skill-based learning methods to help develop the skills for a healthy mind.

Download the app for free from the App Store or Google Play

What Else? Following the session, there will be additional opportunities to connect around crating your own meditation practice. More information will be shared during the event.
