Exploring Our Shared Future – Episode 3: Indigenous Concepts of Education

The Advising and Career Services Book and Film Club is pleased to share the third in a series of emails to help the advising and career services communities further understand the experience of Indigenous students, settler-colonialism, and Indigenization efforts in higher education.

In this episode we start to focus on education, in particular Indigenous concepts of education and the history of Indian boarding schools. Before we can discuss the experiences of Indigenous students at UW Madison, we first need to understand more about Indigenous principles of learning and the ways in which mainstream educational systems like Indian boarding schools have been a part of a long history of colonization.
